Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

What is this?

IPL is a treatment that helps to fade and eliminate benign pigmented skin such as sun spots, melasma, broken capillaries, vessels (rosacea, facial veins) and reduce fine lines by reaching the collagen in the skin through a process called photorejuvenation.

How does it work?

IPL sends light energy through the skin, which targets different layers of dermis and epidermis. This broad band of light assists in stimulating the production of collagen, aids in fading and removal of pigmented spots and decreases facial veins and redness caused by broken capillaries.

How is it performed?

A cool gel will be applied on the area of treatment. Before the treatment begins you'll be given dark glasses to wear to protect your eyes from bright light. The handpiece of the IPL has a glass surface that will be applied to your skin and pulses of light will be applied. With each pulse you may feel a slight sting resembling the sensation of snapping rubber band.

How many treatments needed?

With regards to the severity and condition of the individual's skin, a series of 4 to 6 treatments are recommended to achieve optimal results. Each treatment should be done as early as 3 weeks but no later than 5 weeks. What areas of the body can be done? Treatments can be done on the face, neck chest and hands.

How long do the treatments take?

Depending on the area being treated, it could take anywhere between 20 to 45 min. Also, a main feature that clients appreciate once their treatment is done, is that they can resume their daily activities without any "down time".
